What is Energy Conservation Act 2001 ?
The Energy Conservation Act implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE),
a statutory body under Government of India, envisages creation of cadre of professionally
qualified energy managers and auditors with expertise in energy management, project
management, financing and implementation of energy efficiency projects, as well
as policy analysis. It is a Law to force firms to make more profit and not an Act
to control and monitor energy consumption of industry.
Need of Energy Manager
Government of India has enacted the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 keeping in view
of importance and benefits of energy efficiency. The Schedule to the Energy Conservation
Act provides list of energy Intensive Industries and other establishments, specified
as Designated Consumers. A Designated Consumer has to designate or appoint Energy
Manager possessing a minimum qualification. The Energy Manager occupies an important
position and is focal point of all the activities pertaining to Energy Management
in the organization.
PGP in Lighting Technology & Energy Management (PGP-LTEM)
In view of the provision of Energy Conservation Act and envisaging the demand
of Energy Managers not only in Lighting Industry but all other industries, MITSOL
has taken initiative to rechristen and redesign its existing PGP in Lighting Technology
& Management (PGP-LTM) as PGP in Lighting Technology & Energy Management
(PGPLTEM). The program will contain all major inputs required for becoming a Energy
Manager.
